Kenshikai Karate

Kenshikai Karate is a traditional Japanese style of karate offering a offering a complete program of physical fitness, self defense, kata and weapons training.

The objective of Kenshikai Karate is to  encourage a confident and healthly outlook on life. It teaches respect and discipline when relating to others and help to improves ones awareness and capabilities in self-defence.

Shuseki Shihan William Oliver

Founder

Shuseki Shihan was a 7th dan karate black belt, with over 30 + years of martial arts experience. He began training with Kaicho Tadashi Nakamura at the age of 15 in the Kyokushin Karate style and later in the Seido Karate before helping to found Kenshikai Karate before passing away on the 20th of November 2004.

Shuseki Shihan Paul Sookdar

Kenshikai Chairman & Founding Member

Shuseki-Shihan Paul Sookdar, is a Seventh-Degree Black Belt and current head of the Kenshikai Karate-Do Organization. With over 30 years of martial arts experience under his belt Shuseki Shihan Paul has trained with instructors such as Kaicho Nakamura, Sensei Kishi, and legendary martial artist Shuseki Shihan William Oliver. At the age of fifteen, Shuseki-Shihan Paul was the youngest person ever to be promoted to First-Degree Black Belt in Seido Karate. He opened his Riverdale dojo in 1992. Shuseki-Shihan Paul has devoted his career to teaching both young and adult students and is committed to helping students of all levels improve themselves through Kenshikai Karate.

Kyoshi Shaun Burgess

Kenshikai South Africa Chairman

Kyoshi Shaun is a 5th-Degree Black Belt and the South African Country Representative to the Kenshikai Karate-Do Organization. Kyoshi Shaun began his Karate career in 1984 and has over 30 + years experience in the world of karate and martial arts. He received his 1st Dan (Shodan) in Kyokushinkai Karate (IFK) - on the 24th of March 2000. As head of Kenshikai Karate South Africa Kyoshi Shaun has karate dojo's in Mondeor, Brackenhurst and Bedfordview, not to mention his pre and primary school programs that he helped cultivate. Kyoshi Shaun's goal is to encourage people of all ages who are interested in improving themselves and the quality of their lives.
